Email Filters Could be Killing Your BusinessEmail newsletter delivery used to be so easy anyone could pretty much be successful at it. Spam filters have changed all that and without some delivery basics you may never make it to your subscribers inbox. Filters are causing head-aches for e-mail senders, especially those who ship large volumes of legitimate mail such as news-letter publishers, who are seeing spikes in the number of messages that are filtered out by corporate systems. I'm skeptical about filtering technology, on its own, as a solution to spam. Since there's essentially no cost to sending e-mail, spammers' response has been to increase the volume they send. The rise in spam almost exactly correlates with the deployment of filters. "The whole issue of blocking spam is a very difficult one right now," says Michael Osterman, president of Osterman Research. "This is still a real tricky area, and people are just getting their feet wet with filtering. It's experimenting with the tools to find the right balance for false positives." I hate spam as much as anyone but if you can't guarantee the delivery of e-mail or get the e-mail you are expecting, that's not the Internet. That's like Prodigy was years ago, a closed system. My Goal on this page is to help you understand how to get MORE of your emails delivered by understanding how the different kind of services work. By educating you, you can educate your subscribers and that can make the difference in your Sales and Delivery Rate! Adding the address to their address book or white listing of a newsletter's email address they have subscribed to is an absolute must with a Hotmail address! Here's how you can guide your clients on that. (Feel free to copy and paste or send them to this page.) Hotmail now offers more aggressive spam filtering and email address recognition. By recovering emails that you wish to receive from the "Junk" or "Mail" folder and adding the address to your contacts folder they will appear on your "Today" page automatically. First log in to your Hotmail account Web Mail interface. Then click the "Mail" tab. If you do not find the email that you requested click the "Junk" folder and look for the email that you requested. It may have been accidently filtered. If you find this email in your "Mail" folder or by mistake the "Junk" folder, open the email by clicking on it. Next click the "Save Address" button. Make sure the "Add To Contacts" box is checked and click Now future emails will appear on your "Today" page.
Special Note: MSN is talking about a "bonded certification program," you may be in for a lock-out of
MSN/Hotmail.
